AFCM Concert Conversations offer an engaging start to the day, beginning with Artistic Director Jack Liebeck in conversation with visiting Festival musicians, exploring various personal and professional aspects of their lives. This is followed by a 45-minute performance, with tea and coffee served beforehand.

Who’s Afraid of the Big, Bad Serialists? marks the passing of the alarm these composers once threw out. Andrew Ford presents a lecture on serialism alongside performances of Berg and Webern.

The jewel in the crown each day of the Festival are these full-length Evening Concerts, presenting a wonderful range of repertoire, from classic favourites to lesser-known works and exciting new commissions.

Tonight’s poignant program features Chausson’s last completed work, Nicole Murphy’s response to the impact of COVID in 2020, Andrew Ford’s reflections on a piece by Seán Ó Riada, and Mahler’s unfinished symphony.
