Dr Mark Smith is a distinguished Australian conductor, composer, educator, and trumpet performer. He completed his PhD in Music (Composition) at the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide in 2013, following a Master of Music degree and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) with double majors in Trumpet Performance and Composition.

Mark has served as the Musical Director for Townsville Brass since moving to the city. He is well known in Townsville for his impeccable performances in local productions and concerts, along with his outstanding work in the music education sector. He made his inaugural appearance at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music in 2024 with a dynamic performance in Purcell’s “Fairy Queen”.
