Kevin Hsu
Kevin Hsu is a violinist with the Zaza Road Quartet, the 2024 AFCM Fellowship Ensemble.
Kevin Hsu is currently in his first year of the Master of Music Studies in Violin Performance degree at the Queensland Conservatorium, where he studies with Michele Walsh and Natsuko Yoshimoto. In 2023, he participated in the inaugural QSO Academy. He now regularly plays with the QSO as a causal player. Kevin is the recipient of the Ronald Clifford Davis Scholarship. He has been awarded the Owen Fletcher Postgraduate Award, 4MBS Chamber Music Prize, Basil Jones Sonata Prize, and Paganini Prize. He has played with ensembles such as Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Q, and Australian Youth Orchestra.
He is passionate about chamber music, having participated in festivals such as the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Queensland Music Festival, and Tyalgum Chamber Music Festival. He is a member of Camerata’s 2024 Upbeat Program. In September 2024, he will be travelling to Montreal to study at the Schulich School of Music. He has participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Umberto Clerici, Jack Liebeck, Zoe Knighton, and Emily Sun. Kevin currently plays on a 1918 Marengo violin loaned by the ChiMei Foundation in Taiwan.
